Recent researches have revealed that calories
differ from each other. One fat calorie is
different from a carbohydrate or a protein one.
Their differences are very big.
Fats (or
lipids) have 9kcal per gram, while
carbohydrates and proteins only have
4kcal per gram. According to this,
lipids have at least double calories
than carbohydrates and proteins.
Our body easily changes lipid calories
into body fat. For example, in about 100
calories contained in a fat substance,
only 2,5% can be burnt. All the rest
becomes body fat.
Calories contained in carbohydrates and
proteins can burn almost 10% more than
in lipids (23% in 100 calories).
Our body is a "champion" in changing lipids to body fat.
The reason for this is the mechanism through which our
body accumulates energy. Too many fats and sugars in our
diet can cause overweight and fat mass accumulation.
So we need to pay attention to the sugars which contain
half calories than the lipids (4 kcal x gram), but
contribute to increase the fearing tummy. And we
Italians know it very well, as we celebrate every day
the “carbohydrates party” with pizza, bread and pasta.
A balanced
diet is composed by all the
macro-nourishings in a right proportion.
So, even during a strict diet or an
athletic preparation, fats cannot be
totally eliminated from our diet . Fats
need to be at least the 10% of our daily
caloric needs because they have an
important role in the production of hormones and cellular membrane.
